Newark man jailed for five years over firearms offences

A Newark man has been jailed for five years after he was found to be in possession of a revolver-style air gun and taser in his home.

The weapons were recovered from Jordan Shacklock’s flat where he was arrested on 12 May 2020.

Shacklock, of Chatham Court, Newark, was jailed at Nottingham Crown Court after pleading guilty to charges of possessing an air weapon using self-contained gas cartridge system and possessing a prohibited weapon for discharge of noxious liquid/gas/electrical incapacitation device/thing.

Detective Chief Inspector Hayley Williams, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This sentence highlights how seriously the police, Crown Prosecution Service and the courts take firearm offences.

“We treat all reports of firearms offences extremely seriously, investigate them thoroughly and act swiftly to bring offenders to justice.

“Shacklock was fascinated by weapons and clearly posed a danger to the public by having access to them so I’m pleased he has now been removed from our streets for a significant period of time.”
