Newark and Sherwood District Council has prosecuted a resident after a fly-tip was reported in Fernwood.
A spokesperson for the council said:
‘This week we were successful in our prosecution against a woman from Claypole. She failed to assist officers in the investigation of a fly tip in Fernwood in April 2024.
‘It is an offence without reasonable excuse, to fail to provide assistance or information reasonably required by an authorised person in exercise of their duties.
‘The woman has been fined £660 with a victim surcharge of £264. We were also awarded £492 towards investigation and prosecution costs. That’s a total of £1416.
‘We take environmental offences incredibly seriously and we will take decisive action to ensure the contained protection of our environment.’
