Inspiring nine-year-old Lola Hunter, a pupil at Jesse Gray Primary School in West Bridgford, has been growing her hair for the last 18 months, just so she can have it all chopped off for charity!
Lola has smashed her £150 target and has so far raised £1,104!
Lola had her hair cut on Thursday 1 July and is donating it to The Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
Lola’s parents told us: “Ever since she found out about The Little Princess Trust she has wanted to do something to help. She’s always had long hair, but the lockdowns over the last year have really given her the opportunity to let it grow.
“As well as giving her hair, she also wants to raise as much money as she can for the charity and we’re incredibly grateful for all the donations so far.
“Her first target was £150 and we’ve well surpassed that, but she’s so passionate about making a difference to the lives of children with cancer it would be great if we could raise more.”
Lola said: “I am a bit nervous about my hair being really short, but I really want to help children who have cancer.
“I’m excited about the money I’ve raised so far and now my friends are all interested in what I’m doing, so hopefully I can persuade some of them to do it too and help more poorly children.”
