Just one arrest was made during a UKIP rally and counter-protests in Nottingham city centre today (Saturday 21 June).
Officers were in the city centre this afternoon to facilitate the event, along with an earlier march that saw LGBTQ+ communities celebrate Trans Pride in Hockley and Old Market Square.
A robust policing plan was put in place to keep people safe and to ensure there was no disorder.

Superintendent Paul Burrows, Silver Commander for the operation, said:
“Overall, the vast majority of people conducted themselves peacefully and engaged positively with officers, however we did make one arrest in relation to an attempted assault on a police officer.

“I would like to thank the vast majority of members of the public who attended for carrying out their right to rally and protest in a peaceful manner.
“I would also like to take the opportunity to praise the officers and staff involved in the policing of today’s event. The feedback I have received so far is that officers acted professionally and proportionately to keep the members of the public safe.”
