Multi award-winning independent sports communications agency Macesport today announces the promotion of its Account Director of nine years, Ben Thompson, to Chief Executive Officer.
A former professional rugby and cricket player, Thompson takes the helm with ambitious plans to amplify the agency’s existing portfolio and continue the agency’s growth in the sports communications and sponsorship industry.

Thompson joined Macesport in 2009 after retiring from professional rugby with Exeter Chiefs and Nottingham Rugby. The University of Exeter cricket scholar also represented Middlesex 2nd XI and Oxfordshire in Minor Counties cricket.
He has since been the driving force behind Vauxhall’s seven-year lead sponsorship of the England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales national football associations and played an instrumental part in devising successful strategies for key clients including the NFL, William Hill, Kitman Labs, Air Race 1 and Soccerex.
