Nottingham city centre road closed after serious assault

Police are responding to a report of a serious assault which happened in Nottingham city centre earlier this evening (Saturday 14 September 2019).

Nottinghamshire Police were called to the incident in Union Road, which was reported just after 7.40pm. Officers remain at the scene as they begin their work to understand the circumstances surrounding the assault.

No arrests have been made in connection with this incident so far.

A police cordon remains in place following the incident, with the A60 Mansfield Road currently closed in both directions between its junctions with Woodborough Road and Peachey Street.

Anyone travelling in-and-around Nottingham city centre is being warned to expect disruption to traffic and public transport overnight and into Sunday morning (15 September), as officers continue their work at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, believes they may have captured the assault on dashcam footage or has any information about those responsible is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 812 of 14 September.
