Nottingham city centre student block approved by council

Plans for new Nottingham city centre student accommodation offering over 30 beds at the site of a former solicitors’ firm have been approved by the city council.

Dino Labbate applied to Nottingham City Council to convert the office space  at 45-49 Mansfield Road in the city centre in September 2024- plans were approved by the council on Friday (February 14).

Plans include building a new extension to the rear with access to the accommodation through a new entrance off Moor Street in the new extension.

A three-bed flat is planned for the building’s basement level and in the new extension- this will have access to a lower courtyard.

The ground floor will have four apartments, where three of them are set over the ground and lower ground floor and the fourth apartments also going into the first floor.

A total of 12 apartments will feature at the site across three floors and a basement level, ranging from two bedroom to four bedroom flats and offering 38 bedrooms in total.

All bedrooms will have an en-suite.

The site was last used as a solicitors’ office and storage space.

Parking spaces will be provided for the block and these will be located off Bluecoat Close but these are expected to be used by visitors and food drop offs.

Students living in the flats will have easy access to the city centre and outer Nottinghamshire areas with Mansfield Road offering various bus routes in NCT’s network.

Residents will also have quick access to green open space with an entrance to the Arboretum being nearby on North Sherwood Street.
