A machete and wraps of heroin and cocaine were taken off the streets after CCTV operators alerted police to suspected drug dealing.
Officers from two proactive teams were on patrol in Nottingham city centre at 10.25 am on Monday (9 February) when they were made aware.
Officers from the priority tasking team and knife crime team worked together to locate a suspect and detain him in Upper Parliament Street.
During searches a machete, wraps of Class A drugs and a bag of cash were recovered.
Eighteen-year-old Dashaye Grant, of Kirklington Grove, Nottingham, has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 26 February 2026.
He was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and investigations continue.
Sergeant Matt Daley, of the knife crime team, said:
“This charge and the seizures made are thanks to great teamwork.
“The force works closely with Nottingham City Council CCTV operators and we are grateful they alerted us quickly to this suspected drug dealing.
“Officers from two city police teams and the control room then worked together to locate a suspect and arrest him.
“Nottingham has excellent CCTV coverage and if you engage in criminality in the city you are likely to be caught on camera.”
