Nottingham council house and Wollaton Hall lit up for Captain Sir Tom Moore

Nottingham pays its respects to Captain Sir Tom Moore.

Nottingham City Council Deputy Leader, Cllr Sally Longford said:

‘The sad news of Captain Sir Tom Moore’s death yesterday is a stark reminder that we still have to do all we can to protect our vulnerable citizens.

‘The 100-year-old Army veteran became a much-loved public figure last year when, then aged 99, he raised more than £30m for the NHS by walking 100 laps of his garden in Bedfordshire ahead of his landmark birthday.

‘Sir Tom had been suffering with pneumonia and tested positive for Covid last week.

‘The Union flag on Nottingham’s Council House has been flying at half-mast today as a mark of respect, while both the building and Wollaton Hall will be lit up red, white and blue this evening in his honour.
