Nottingham drug dealer kept customer notes in caravan in the garden

A Nottingham drug dealer has been jailed after police found incriminating ‘deal lists’, weighing scales and customer phone numbers in a caravan stored in his back garden.

A 33-year-old man  was caught after the car he was travelling in was pulled over by officers in Bulwell.

A subsequent search of the vehicle on the afternoon of 9 May 2022 revealed multiple deal bags of cocaine, a quantity of cannabis and a mobile phone.

He immediately owned up to being in possession of cocaine, but claimed it was all for personal use.

However, a recent WhatsApp message on a phone found in car told a different story and was a clear order for drugs from a customer.

He was arrested and a search was authorised of his former home in Nottingham.

After searching a caravan stored in the garden, officers found extensive evidence of drug-dealing, including small plastic deal bags, bags of cannabis and weighing scales.

More damningly, several hand-written deal lists were also uncovered detailing illicit transactions worth tens of thousands of pounds over a 19-month period.

Widdowson, formerly of Minver Crescent, Aspley, initially declined to answer officers’ questions but later pleaded guilty to possessing Class A and B drugs with intent to supply.

Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday 2 May he was jailed for eight months.

Sergeant James Bell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Widdowson was very clearly involved in the sale of large quantities of illegal drugs and was ultimately brought down by his carelessness.

“Despite his protestations at the roadside that the drugs in his possession were for personal use, it was clear from the quantities involved that this was not the case.

“Subsequent investigations proved he was indeed involved in significant drug dealing in the local area and I am pleased he has now been held to account.”
