After 28 successful years serving the Nottingham community and beyond, Coles Sewing Centre, a beloved fixture in Lower Parliament Street, is entering a new chapter.
Family owners Neil and Rose Coles have announced their decision to step back and retire, prompting the sale of the business.
As the lease on their current location ends in December 2024, Neil and Rose are seeking a buyer who will continue the legacy and vibrant community spirit of Coles Sewing Centre for the many stitchers both in Nottingham, across the UK and further afield.
If a buyer is not found, the shop will unfortunately have to close its doors at the end of the year. Despite this, the dedicated service department will remain operational from a new location, ensuring all machine warranties are honoured and that sewing machine servicing and repairs continue without interruption.
“We are deeply grateful to our customers in Nottingham, across the UK, and around the world for their unwavering support over the years,” said Rose, the director of the company. “It has been a fantastic journey, and we have cherished every moment.”
Coles Sewing Centre will continue to trade throughout the summer and autumn, with classes running until December. Outstanding orders will be fulfilled, and customers can expect the same high level of service they have come to rely on.
“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our team members, both past and present, who have been instrumental in our success, especially during the challenges posed by the pandemic,” added Neil.
Neil and Rose emphasise that this decision comes as a natural step towards retirement. “We opened Coles Sewing Centre when our children were young, and now they have children and are starting businesses of their own. It’s time for us to enjoy this next phase of life and spend more time with our growing family,” said Rose.
