Rushcliffe Borough Council livestreams meetings including tonight’s planning meeting.
8 pm The committee has heard:
– the construction investment is £550m over 3 years
– will create 910 FTE jobs a year on site
– attendance approx rise from 910k to 1.41m
– stadium currently generates around £44m a year > expected to inc to £63.6m
A spokesperson for Nottingham Kayak Club expressed concern for vehicular access to the club during building and after works are finished, saying it would be a “death knell” for the club.
Cllr Sue Mallender (Grn) has just proposed NFFC give fans free public transport on home matchdays with their ticket/season ticket to encourage fewer fans in cars travelling to the area, saying nearby residents already “suffer” with parking problems.
There is general support for a new footbridge over the River Trent to help deal with the increased footfall from the proposed stadium expansion – this is NOT a formal plan at this stage, or part of NFFC’s contributions and would require its own planning application.

The detailed scheme covers redevelopment of the Peter Taylor Stand and Trent End, increasing capacity to around 45,000. A separate outline application proposes a later redevelopment of the Brian Clough Stand, bringing the total to 52,500.

Ahead of the meeting, planning officers recommended approval with extensive safeguards covering transport, construction, noise, flood protection and neighbouring properties. Safe movement of additional supporters across the River Trent was a central issue.
The meeting is chaired by Cllr Rex Walker, along with vice chair Cllr Elena Georgiou.
Scheduled for 6 pm start.
