Nottingham: Man charged after allegedly entering and remaining in a woman’s car while she was driving – and stealing handbag

A man has been arrested and charged with robbery following a city centre incident earlier this month.

The charges relate to a report of a man allegedly entering the back seat of a woman’s car and then stealing a handbag.

The incident happened on the afternoon of Saturday 7 November 2020 in Nottingham city centre.

Steven Partington, 44 of no fixed address has been charged with robbery and kidnap. He has been remanded into custody.

He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 23 November 2020).

Detective Sergeant Karl Thomas from the force’s Robbery Team has praised officers and staff following the charge.

He said: “Officers and police staff have worked tirelessly to ensure we were able to help a woman when she needed the police.

“It was reported that a man entered a vehicle, after the woman had shopped at Castle Marina retail park.

“This must have been a terrifying experience for her. We have now arrested and charged a man in connection with the incident.

“I would like to thank a whole team of officers and staff from across the organisation for their hard work involved in this complex enquiry.”
