A man who stole nearly £7,000 worth of items including make-up and Christmas gifts from two Boots stores has been jailed.
Jamie Stevenson (39) of Nottingham Road has been sentenced to 19 months at Nottingham Crown Court on 4 March 2020 for 17 shop thefts and one common assault.
The incidents happened at two Boot stores in Nottingham on Mansfield Road and Commercial Road between August and December in 2019.
Stevenson was spotted putting items in his bag by a member of the public on one occasion and she attempted to stop him from making off by grabbing him, causing him to drop the items on the floor.
She then attempted to block the door and he barged past her causing her to fall to the floor.
Stevenson also entered the Mansfield Road store and stole £1,500 worth of makeup and put it into his bag and left without attempting to offer payment.
Other items including Christmas gifts were continuously stolen, with the highest value set being £600 which was stolen on 4 November 2019 from the Mansfield Road store.
The total of all the items stolen was £6,867.50.
Police Constable Hannah Woods who led the investigation said: “Stevenson stole an incredible number of items from both stores over a five-month period.
“We are pleased with today’s result and pleased that the staff from Boots can be given some reassurance that Stevenson is behind bars.
“I’m pleased to see the courts recognised the impact this type of crime has on communities and reflected that in their sentence.”
