Nottingham MP slams Government for failing to award levelling up funding to city projects

Nadia Whittome, MP for Nottingham East, has criticised the government in Parliament in the wake of the latest Levelling Up funding round, in which Nottingham has received no money.

Speaking in the House of Commons Chamber this morning, Ms Whittome highlighted that Nottingham is the 11th most deprived district out of 317 in England.

Ms Whittome said: “Despite the clear need, not one of our three Levelling Up bids were successful. Yet the Prime Minister’s own very wealthy constituency was awarded £19 million.”

Ms Whittome asked Conservative Levelling Up Minister: “When will the government end this ridiculous charade of favouritism and truly level up places like Nottingham, by restoring the billions of funding that Conservative governments have cut since 2010?”
