Nottingham murder: Another arrest in stabbing investigation

Detectives have made a further arrest as part of an investigation into a man’s murder.

Darren Davis, 46, died in hospital shortly after being stabbed in Radford Boulevard, Radford, at around 3.45pm on Wednesday (10 August 2022).

A 39-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of murder – taking the number of suspects currently in custody up to four.

Police have today (16 August) been granted a court extension to continue questioning the other three suspects being detained for the murder.

Two men, aged 41 and 34, were arrested on Saturday (13 August), with a further suspect, a 47-year-old man, also arrested on Sunday (14 August).

Detectives have been working round the clock on the investigation since the fatal attack.

A key line of enquiry has seen officers review hours of CCTV, dash-cam, mobile phone and doorbell-cam footage filmed in the surrounding area on the day of the incident.

As the investigation continues, officers are today repeating this appeal for footage from Radford Boulevard and/or Ilkeston Road, filmed between the hours of 3.30pm and 5.30pm.

Detective Inspector Melanie Crutchley, who is leading the investigation, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who has come forward with footage so far to aid our ongoing investigation.

“However small and insignificant some of this might have seemed, I can assure people all this evidence has played a crucial role in helping us piece together what happened to Darren.

“I can only imagine the pain Darren’s family must be going through right now but I want to reassure them our team of specially-trained detectives are leaving no stone unturned to bring them the justice they deserve.

“We currently have four suspects in custody and feel like we’re making great strides towards establishing the truth.

“This is very much an active investigation though, so I’d ask anyone who has any footage from the surrounding area they haven’t sent to us yet or has any information that could assist our enquiries, to please get in touch.

“Every piece of evidence we can gather will get us closer to bringing those responsible for Darren’s murder to justice.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 481 of 10 August 2022, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A portal has also been set up for anyone with information, pictures or video footage which may help the investigation. This can be submitted here: Public Portal (mipp.police.uk)

A 31-year-old man previously arrested on suspicion of murder has been released under investigation as the enquiry continues.
