Nottingham opticians run 1,200km for dementia charity

PUBLISHED:

A team of four from Specsavers in Nottingham is taking on a sporting challenge, to raise money for Alzheimers Research UK.

The four staff members; Sharon Hodson, customer service manager, Jill Tinkley, dispensing manager, Nicole Thacker, store director and Kirsty McGill, retail support centre, are taking part in the charity’s Running Down Dementia online event. They have until August to hit their target distance of 400km each, logging their runs and walks as they go.

‘It’s great to see the team get behind another fantastic cause’, says Wheeler Gate’s store director, Simon Dunn. ‘They’ve set themselves a significant challenge with their target distances and they really are inspiring, already clocking up the miles.

‘A huge thank you to our customers, friends and community who have already supported them with donations.’

The team has a page on the Running Down Dementia 2019 campaign website where they are logging their runs and walks and can receive donations. https://runningdowndementia2019.everydayhero.com/uk/specsavers-team-n
