PUBLISHED:

A Nottingham opticians is calling on the creative skills of local children as it launches a competition to create a new superhero while raising funds for Comic Relief.

The competition runs from Friday 15 February until Thursday 14 March, with the winner being announced on Red Nose Day (15 March) and the lucky creative taking home a super prize.

Alongside donations to the charity, the store is also selling the Comic Relief funny frames for just £2 a pair, with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity. These are available now, while stocks last.

‘Comic Relief is a great opportunity for everyone to get involved in supporting a range of charities, in some way shape or form,’ says Specsavers Nottingham store director Nicole Thacker. ‘We can’t wait to see what ideas come forward as part of our competition, I’m sure there will be some interesting optical powers in the mix.’

The store will have its own superhero aka Scott – on hand on Red Nose Day to help customers choose their new specs, while the store is also running a prize draw with the chance to win back the cost of your specs.

From Friday 15 February until Thursday 14 March customers can make a suggested donation to Comic Relief of £1 to be entered into a prize draw to win back the cost of their glasses order. The winner will be drawn and announced on Red Nose Day.

It’s the third year that Specsavers stores have supported Comic Relief by launching funny frames, with this year’s red glasses jester theme in keeping with the charity’s comic ethos. Since becoming an official supporter in 2015, Specsavers has raised £851,000 and has pledged to raise £250,000 this year in its quest to break the £1million mark.

Customers who would like to recycle the glasses after Red Nose Day will be able to return them to their local store and they will be sent onto a specialist recycling company.
