Nottingham Rugby is delighted to announce the signing of flanker Will Owen for next season.
Currently playing for Wasps, Will has a wealth of experience having cut his teeth at Leicester Tigers and playing for Doncaster Knights in the earlier stages of his career.
The 23-year-old has also represented and captained England U20s, most notably at the 2015 World Rugby U20 Championship where England finished as runners-up to New Zealand.
Next season’s Head Coach, Neil Fowkes, said: “Will is a fantastic player with Premiership experience at very young age. He’s also got Championship experience which will be invaluable for him when he arrives.
“He’s an out and out 7, great over the ball and a fantastic link player in attack. I can’t wait to see him in the Green and White for Nottingham.”
Will was at Leicester Tigers from the age of 13 and earned a place on their academy programme where the likes Dan Cole, Ben Youngs, Tom Youngs, Tom Croft and Manu Tuilagi also began their careers.
Will said: “Nottingham Rugby are a club with a lot of ambition and a great atmosphere both among the fans and in team.
“There’s a real community spirit to the club and I can’t wait to join Neil and the team for the next season.”
The Green and Whites also announced the signing of versatile second row Llewelyn Jones this week, and Neil Fowkes is pleased with how next year’s pack is shaping up.
“We’ve retained some excellent players from this season and built upon that strong foundation with some really exciting new players, so I’m looking forward to seeing how they all gel together,” added Neil.
