Nottingham shop owner’s ear bitten after fight starts on the premises

A shop owner was reportedly beaten and had his ear partially bitten off during an assault.

It is believed that a dispute had taken place at a shop and spilled out into the street in Wiverton Road, Forest Fields.

Officers received multiple phone calls from members of the public about the fight before quickly attending to find three men fighting.

The shop owner is reported to have been kicked, punched and threatened as well as having part of his ear bitten off.

Michael Green, 44, was subsequently charged with assault and remanded in custody.

As enquiries into the incident continue, officers have released images of another man they would like to speak to about the incident, which happened just before 4.40pm on Wednesday 24 November 2021.

Detective Constable Agnes Wakenhut, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This incident left the man not only injured but very distressed as well.

“Officers have been working hard on their investigation into the incident and one man was subsequently charged and remanded in custody.

“The community can be reassured, however, that we are tenacious in our efforts to ensure that we investigate this thoroughly and make sure we have tracked down all the necessary parties to fully understand the circumstances of the incident and provide the appropriate justice for the victim.

“We are now releasing images of a man we are very keen to speak to as part of our ongoing enquiries. We believe he may have information which could be valuable to our investigation and would urge anyone who recognises him, or anyone with further information, to get in touch with Nottinghamshire Police.”

Anyone who recognises the man in the images, or anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information, is urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 502 of 24 November 2021.

Alternatively, people can provide information anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
