A Nottingham teenager has been jailed for 16-months after a house burglary in Nottingham earlier this year.
Nineteen-year-old Clay Swift, of Dulwich Road, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday 14 May 2019 after pleading guilty to one count of burglary.
The incident happened on 26 March 2019 in Radford Road.
Swift entered the property by an insecure kitchen window, but fled with the door key after hearing the residents coming downstairs.
Swift left the door key outside and climbed over the garden fence to escape.
Whilst doing this, he dropped a bag containing his ID. He reappeared a short time later to retrieve his bag, but was spooked by occupants and the police.
He returned again for a second time and was arrested a short distance away.
He didn’t take any items.
Trainee Detective Constable Louise Jackson said: “We are pleased with the sentencing result and hope that this gives the victims comfort that Swift is locked up and off the streets of Nottingham.”
