Nottingham’s eagerly awaited The Alchemist restaurant and bar looks like it’s taking shape.

Macaulay Sinclair, designers behind The Alchemist in MediaCityUK, Manchester, have been shortlisted for ‘Best Designed Pub/Bar of the Year’ and ‘Best New Pub/Bar Site’.

Macaulay Sinclair re also designing there interior of Nottingham’s The Alchemist.

John Macaulay, co-director at Macaulay Sinclair, said: “We’re really proud of the venues we have designed for these stylish brands – they’re the real leaders in their field. We work with independent brands with interesting stories and unique concepts”.

 

Despite their recent projects taking them to London, Manchester and Oxford, Liverpool-born directors John Macaulay and Mike Sinclair are determined to not lose sight of their Nottingham roots.

Nottingham’s Box Property brokered the deal which will see The Alchemist add Nottingham to its portfolio of restaurants. The business has premises in Newcastle, Alderley Edge, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham.

The brand is part of the Living Ventures stable which includes Gusto that opened in West Bridgford in 2017.

The Alchemist brand describes itself as;

‘Based in bustling UK city centres The Alchemist lets the inner inventor flourish… Join the scientists and mad men, exploring and inventing, twisting and changing with the world around us. Mixing unexpected ingredients with unconventional equipment and remarkable craftsmanship to create cocktail concoctions worthy of a true alchemist.’

It specialises in cocktails and a variety of menu items.

Ben Tebbut of Box Property said: “This is a flagship deal for both Box Property and Nottingham – and perhaps the most exciting letting in years for the city.”

Adding “11 King Street is one of Nottingham’s finest buildings and we’re delighted to have worked on a deal which will bring a great operator to Nottingham. We have no doubt that Alchemist will be a huge success in the city.”

 

Macaulay Sinclair has previously designed restaurant interiors for Gleneagles, Foxlow, Byron Burger, Pitt Cue and Big Easy.
