Most of the UK is now benefitting from a brief spell of very warm weather. Temperatures are expected to peak on Friday before quickly cooling down over the weekend.

Today Friday 31 July:

After a sunny morning cloud will arrive, bringing an increasing risk of thunderstorms. However, many places will remain dry, while becoming hot and humid. The coast will be slightly cooler as a brisk southeasterly breeze develops. Maximum temperature 34 °C.

Tonight:

Scattered showers or thunderstorms this evening, possibly very heavy with hail and frequent lightning across eastern areas. Overnight becoming dry with clear spells, while remaining warm and humid. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Saturday:

Mostly dry with sunny spells, although a few mainly light showers are possible. Very warm with light winds, although onshore breezes keep the Lincolnshire coast slightly cooler. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Sunday mainly dry, sunny spells. Monday rain is likely to spread east, especially across southern areas with northern locations possibly remaining dry. Tuesday chance of rain later. Temperatures near normal.
