Nottingham: Weapon wielded in row over parking

A man was arrested after a weapon was allegedly wielded during an argument in the street between two people.
Officers were called to Cedar Road, Forest Fields, shortly after 10pm on Wednesday (9 October) after an altercation was reported.

A member of the public reported a man threatening him with a weapon after they’d argued over parking.

Officers located the suspect and seized a crowbar from his van.

The 48-year-old was subsequently arrested on suspicion of affray. He was further arrested for failing to provide a sample of breath at the roadside after refusing to undergo a breathalyser test.

He has been bailed with conditions while the investigation continues.

Inspector Liz Gaskin, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Violent behaviour will not be tolerated in our neighbourhoods so I’m pleased we were able to quickly attend the incident and prevent further disorder.

“Officers who attended the scene worked efficiently to arrest a suspect and seize a crowbar.
“Thankfully no-one was injured but know any incident involving weapons has the potential to escalate.

“Our investigation is continuing and I’d ask anyone with any information to call 101, quoting incident number 779 of 9 October 2024.”
