A 21 year-old woman has been disqualified from driving for three years after being arrested and charged in relation to two drink driving incidents in the space of 11 weeks.
The suspected drink driver was spotted driving erratically in Mansfield Road in the city centre at around 5am on 18 October and was stopped by officers near to the St Ann’s Police Station.
The driver was breathalysed provided a reading of 83 – the legal limit is 35.
Police Sergeant Jonny Groves made the arrest. He said: “Officers were out on a proactive patrol in the area and spotted a car being driven erratically in the early hours on Sunday.
“We stopped a woman who was then arrested for being over the prescribed limit. She was more than twice the legal alcohol limit for driving and taken into custody.
“Thankfully no one was injured.
“Just one drink or drug-driver on Nottinghamshire’s roads is one too many and our message is simple: drink and drug-drivers will not be tolerated on our county’s roads.
“Driving while under the influence of drink or drugs is always a significant danger.
“This is yet another case that demonstrates how seriously Nottinghamshire Police takes the issue and how we will take positive action to hold those responsible to account.
“Drink driving will not be tolerated in Nottinghamshire and this was excellent proactive work by response officers.”
Shannon Ball, 21 from Nottingham was remanded to court and appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 19 October 2020 in relation to this incident and another drink driving offence on 1 August.
As well as the driving disqualification she was issued with a community order.
