Nottingham’s Annual Bereavement Service today at Wilford Hill

Nottingham City Council’s Cemetery and Crematorium Service holds the annual service for the bereaved today.

The service will take place on Saturday 4 December 2021 at Wilford Hill Southern Cemetery and Crematorium, however In the light of the current pandemic, there have been a few changes to the service for this year.

The crematorium chapels will be open to the public from 10.30am to 2pm, rather than a formal service, instead visitors are invited to come at any time between these hours to sit, reflect and pay their respects to their loved ones in their own time.

There will be our usual Remembrance Tree where people are able to write a message for their loved ones and hang on the Tree.

The service has special significance for those wishing to remember friends or family who died in Nottingham, but anyone wishing to attend is very welcome.

Complimentary refreshments will also be available.

The aim of creating this more flexible event is to enable the public to feel safe to come and pay their respects and think about loved ones and there will be more opportunity for people to honour memories in a way more personal to them.

The annual service is sponsored very kindly again this year by A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service

Councillor Rosemary Healy, Lead councillor for Public Realm said: “The annual service is often an important milestone for people who are bereaved, and many tell us of the comfort they find through attending. This year, we wanted to find a way to allow as many people to do this as possible, while feeling comfortable and safe.

“We are grateful for the ongoing sponsorship from A.W. Lymn, which allows us to add special touches to the event – all much appreciated by those who attend.”
