Indian and Nepalese restaurant Gurkha One has teamed up with Nottingham’s oldest wines and spirits supplier to host a special wine-pairing evening at its Rolleston restaurant.
Philip Trease, fifth generation owner of Weavers will join Gurkha One restaurant manager Jamil, to talk diners through an exciting range of wines specifically chosen to accompany a delicious six course tasting menu, at a special event to be held on Wednesday 18 April from 7.30pm.
“We have always celebrated fine wines at Gurkha One and our extensive wine menu gives customers lots of helpful pairing suggestions. It will be wonderful to draw on Philip’s extensive experience in the industry to educate us on how the flavours of our dishes can be complemented by wonderful wines,” says Jamil.
“The tasting menu has been designed to showcase some of our most popular and delicious Nepalese dishes so we are hoping to attract new and existing customers to this special wine-pairing evening and I am looking forward to it hugely.”
Gurkha One restaurant, which has its very own boutique style bedrooms, has been based in the Rolleston country pub The Crown for two years and is earning itself a first-class reputation, with a glittering trophy cabinet of awards and a growing scrapbook of restaurant reviews.
The extensive menu offers freshly prepared authentic Nepalese dishes, personal service and an extensive bar and wine list.
“Traditionally North Indian and Nepalese cooking involves two very different styles. We’ve created a fusion of the two coupled with several alternative cooking methods which makes our food concept completely fresh and unique,” Jamil added.
