Nottinghamshire councils BIN COLLECTIONS at earlier times during heatwave

Many Nottinghamshire councils have published changes to collections time on Monday and Tuesday to protect the workforce.

Rushcliffe Borough Council

The council is changing the collection times for Monday and Tuesday 18 and 19 July.

Bin collections across Rushcliffe will start from 6am on Monday July 18 and Tuesday July 19, instead of their usual 7am start times to reduce Rushcliffe Borough Council’s waste team’s exposure to the forecast extreme weather conditions.

Residents in the Borough should therefore ensure their bins scheduled for collection on either day are placed on the edge of their properties before 6am on these days to ensure they are collected.

It follows an amber weather warning on both days across the region that could see temperatures reach 39 degrees celsius.

Nottingham City Council

To help our frontline works cope with the heat, bin collections across the city will start from 6am on Monday 18 July and Tuesday 19 July, instead of the usual 7am. The earlier start time will reduce employee’s exposure to the forecasted extreme weather conditions. Please ensure you put your bin out before 6am on these days.

Mansfield District Council

Please ensure your bin is out by 6am on your collection day.

Broxtowe Borough Council

With the amber weather warning in place, we’ll be collecting bins an hour earlier on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July to help keep our Refuse Crews safe in the peak of the heat.

Bin collections across Broxtowe will start from 5.30am on Monday July 18 and Tuesday July 19, instead of their usual 6.30am start times to reduce the Council’s Refuse team’s exposure to the forecast extreme weather conditions.

Residents in the Borough should therefore ensure their bins scheduled for collection on either day are placed on the edge of their properties before 5.30am on these days to ensure they are collected.

It follows an amber weather warning on both days across the region that could see temperatures reach 34o c.

The earlier starts will help the teams to get more bins emptied in the morning before the temperatures peak later in the day and is in line with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) advice for outdoor working.

The Council would like to thank residents for their support.
