Nottinghamshire Fire service called out to their own fire station after blaze reported

A fire was confirmed after an alarm sounded at Stapleford Fire Station.

A spokesperson for Stapleford Fire Station said:

‘Just before 8 pm on Sunday, we were alerted to a report of a fire alarm sounding at Stapleford Fire Station.

‘We quickly responded and it soon became apparent that this was a confirmed fire.

‘Pete Hopkins who led the incident quickly requested support from Ilkeston Community Fire Station and a Station Manager.

‘The electricity supply to the station was affected and our teams used CO2 extinguishers to control the fire until representatives from The National Grid could attend and isolate the power.

‘During the incident, approximately 62 houses were left without power and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.’

‘Although our station is “a wee bit stinky” we are pleased to confirm that very little fire damage was caused.’
