GP surgeries across Nottinghamshire have received widely varying ratings from patients in the latest national survey, with positive experiences ranging from 41% to 94% at individual practices.
The 2026 GP Patient Survey, published in July, asked patients about their experiences of local GP services, including making appointments, contacting surgeries and the care they received.
Across the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board area, 74% of respondents reported a good overall experience of their GP practice, compared with approximately 77% nationally.
The Nottinghamshire area ranked 28th out of 36 Integrated Care Board areas in England for positive overall patient experience.
An analysis of published practice-level figures covering 122 GP surgeries across Nottinghamshire and Nottingham city shows considerable differences between individual practices.
Tuxford Medical Centre in Bassetlaw recorded the highest percentage of patients reporting a positive overall experience, at 94%.
Four practices recorded 93%: St George’s Medical Practice in West Bridgford, Plains View Surgery in Gedling, Hill View Surgery in Newark and Sherwood, and Acorn Medical Practice in Mansfield.
East Bridgford Medical Centre also featured among the highest-scoring surgeries, with 92% of patients describing their overall experience as good.

West Bridgford Medical Centre and Radcliffe-on-Trent Health Centre both received scores of 85%, followed by Musters Medical Practice at 80% and Belvoir Health Group at 72%.
The figures also show significant variations in patients’ experiences of contacting their surgery by telephone.

Across the wider county, several practices recorded considerably lower levels of positive overall experience.

The GP Patient Survey is an annual independent survey conducted by Ipsos on behalf of NHS England. The 2026 results are based on responses collected between January and April.
Nationally, 654,714 people responded to the survey, including 13,439 across the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire area.
The results provide information about patients’ experiences of GP services but do not constitute an official NHS ranking of clinical quality or safety.
NHS England advises caution when comparing individual practices because results are based on samples of patients and can be influenced by differences in patient populations and survey response rates.
A higher or lower percentage does not necessarily indicate that one practice provides better or worse clinical care than another.
The full 2026 GP Patient Survey results, including individual practice figures and further information about the methodology, are available on the official GP Patient Survey website.
