Parents, pupils and staff at Pinewood Infant and Nursery school in Arnold are celebrating after Ofsted reports that it continues to be an ‘Outstanding’ school in all areas, with no areas for improvement.
Ofsted said: “Pinewood Infant and Nursery School is a special place to be” and that “all pupils feel happy, safe and secure whilst delighting in their learning.”
Following the inspection in November 2023, Ofsted inspectors rated the school ‘outstanding’ in every area and the school was commended on igniting pupils’ interest in the world around them. The school’s rich and ambitious curriculum was commented on, which inspectors stated “prepares them exceptionally well for the next stage of their learning.”
Nottinghamshire County Council’s Service Director for Education and Inclusion, Peter McConnochie, said “congratulations to the head teacher, staff, parents and pupils for their part in an excellent Ofsted inspection.”
Headteacher, Rachel Otter, said:
“We are absolutely delighted with this report and it is a privilege to be part of such a fantastic school. We could not have achieved this without the support of our superb governing body and every member of staff playing their part, giving their all day in and day out, year after year.
“We are also extremely proud of our pupils and of the wonderful supportive parents and carers whose survey responses were delightful – we couldn’t be more grateful!
“We were pleased that the inspectors highlighted the quality of the curriculum but also our school values, the kindness we show each other and our ambitions for our children, preparing them for their future learning.
“We have the highest aspirations and work hard to continue providing an outstanding learning environment for children and families in Nottinghamshire. This recognition from Ofsted is credit to our school community and a testament to the work that takes place every day.”
Cabinet member for Education and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, Councillor Sam Smith, said “I would like to congratulate everyone at Pinewood on a wonderful report that recognises the positive work of the leadership team and staff. They are determined to do their best for children at the school, and the pupils should be proud of their excellent behaviour and positive attitude to learning.”
Parents’ and carers’ views were also included in the report, with one parent commenting “I could not wish for anything more.”
