Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a woman was pushed into the River Soar in Leicester.
The incident happened in Western Boulevard, close to the entrance to Bede Park, at around 4pm on Sunday (14 August).
The victim – who is in her 30s – also had money and a mobile phone taken.
Following initial enquiries, a 32-year-old man from Nottinghamshire was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and theft.
PC Gabrielle Porter, the investigating officer, said: “I know there were people in the area at the time who saw what happened – and I would like anyone with information to come forward.
“Any details you’re able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think they are, could help my investigation.”
