Nottinghamshire NHS: Visit NHS111 or phone 111 to get to the right service

The NHS is urging local people to use 111.nhs.uk or phone 111 if they need medical advice or treatment over the festive period.

Depending on what you need, you might be advised to look after yourself at home or offered one of these options:

  • see a pharmacist for help with a minor illness
  • contact your own GP surgery
  • get urgent specialist support, for dental or mental health problems
  • book a callback from a nurse
  • see an evening and weekend GP (out-of-hours GP)
  • go to an urgent treatment centre
  • call 999 or go to A&E in an emergency.

Dr Stephen Shortt, Deputy Medical Director at NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, said: “There are lots of different services that can support you, so it can be confusing knowing where to go for help if you’re unwell or injured. If you’re not sure where to go, or when to seek help, please visit 111.nhs.uk first or phone 111.

“The trained advisors can give you advice or offer you different options such as an urgent dental appointment, an out of hours GP appointment or a discussion with a nurse. The NHS is here for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please help us by always trying to choose the most appropriate service for your needs.”

111.nhs.uk is for people aged 5 and over. For under 5s, call 111.
