It is a relatively settled start on Nottinghamshire’s strategic road network, with no major fresh collision or emergency closure identified in the early checks affecting the M1, A1, A46 or A52.
Roads and motorways
No major fresh unplanned incident causing widespread disruption has been identified on Nottinghamshire’s principal strategic routes at the time of the early check.
The most significant overnight restriction was on the M1 northbound around East Midlands Airport, where the motorway was scheduled to close from junction 23A to junction 24 between 20:00 Tuesday and 06:00 this morningfor maintenance.
There was also an overnight lane closure on the A453 southbound between the A6 and M1 junction 23A, again scheduled to finish at 06:00. These are planned works rather than fresh incidents, so I would not carry them into the morning peak unless there is evidence of an overrun.
A52 Wheatcroft
The major works at Wheatcroft junction remain one of the main potential pressure points for Rushcliffe commuters.
Flawforth Lane remains completely closed where it meets the A52 until 18:00 on Friday 25 September, while utility diversions continue ahead of reconstruction of Wheatcroft junction.
Lane restrictions and the temporary 40mph limit remain on the A52.
East Bridgford – A6097 reopens at 06:00
The A6097 between Gunthorpe Bridge and the A46 was scheduled to reopen at 06:00 this morning following the third night of the current closure programme.
It closes again from 20:00 tonight until 06:00 Thursday, with another closure on Thursday night into Friday.
Nottinghamshire County Council says the five-night programme is being used for vegetation and tree clearance between Kirk Hill junction and the A46 roundabout as part of the A614/A6097 improvement scheme.
The signed diversion is via the A46, A617, A614 and A6097.

Lowdham Roundabout
The major reconstruction of Lowdham Roundabout is now under way.
Initial work includes site set-up, drainage and utility diversions, with temporary traffic signals and reduced lanes being introduced on approaches to the roundabout.
The completed scheme will provide a second circulatory lane and three approach lanes from the A612 Nottingham Road, including a dedicated left-turn filter.
Drivers should allow additional time through Lowdham, particularly as the morning peak develops.
Rail
There is no fresh major Nottinghamshire rail incident showing on National Rail’s early disruption list.
Yesterday’s signalling failure at Heckington, which caused delays and alterations to East Midlands Railway services between Nottingham and Skegness, was reported as resolved last night. National Rail expected the advertised timetable to resume this morning.

Planned engineering alterations do continue today.
National Rail lists amended early-morning and late-night services between London St Pancras, Corby, Nottingham, Derby and Sheffield until Friday 25 September.
There are also alterations to late-night and early-morning services between Nottingham, Derby, Matlock and Sheffieldthrough Friday.
Separately, EMR’s temporary reduced Intercity timetable remains in place until further notice, according to National Rail.

Buses – Nuthall Road
The overnight resurfacing programme on Nuthall Road continues.
The Nottingham-bound carriageway closes between 19:00 and 06:00 each night until Saturday 26 September.
Nottingham City Transport Yellow 71/71B and Turquoise 79 are affected.
The 71 towards Nottingham follows the Yellow 70 route along Bagnall Road, while the 79 uses Broxtowe Lane, Aspley Lane, Melbourne Road and Nuthall Road.
trentbarton rainbow one is also affected, with Cinderhill Island, Nottingham College and Basford Hall College not served towards Nottingham during the overnight closures.
Mansfield Road
The inbound A60 Mansfield Road between Goose Fair Island and Forest Road East was scheduled to reopen at 06:00 this morning after another night of resurfacing.
It closes again between 20:00 tonight and 06:00 Thursday.
The scheme is due to finish at 06:00 on Friday 25 September.
Brown, Lime, Yellow and Purple Line buses towards Nottingham divert via Gregory Boulevard, Alfreton Road and Canning Circus during the closures.
Stops FO07, FO08, FO09, FO10, J1 and G3 are not served while the closure is in place.
Transport Nottingham – Mansfield Road resurfacing
Hucknall Road
The current overnight resurfacing programme on Hucknall Road was scheduled to finish at 06:00 this morning.
The works have been affecting trentbarton’s the threes, with overnight closures between 19:00 and 06:00 through Wednesday 23 September.
Unless a fresh notice confirms an overrun, I would therefore treat this particular restriction as finished for today’s daytime services.
Ruddington
Drainage works continue on Easthorpe Street in Ruddington.
Green 10 and 10C divert between 08:00 and 16:00 each day until Friday 2 October, using the A60 Loughborough Road, Kirk Lane and High Street.
The Cumberland Close stops are not served.
Netherfield – closure tonight
There is a new bus diversion to note for later today.
Victoria Road in Netherfield closes tonight, affecting late Red 44 journeys.
The affected departures are the 23:00, 23:30 and 00:02 from Nottingham, together with the 23:30 from Gedling.
Buses divert via Private Road No 1, Colwick Loop Road, Burton Road and Gedling Road.
Sawley
Overnight closures of Tamworth Road at Sawley continue tonight.
The road closes between 20:00 and 06:00 on Monday-to-Friday nights until Saturday 3 October, affecting trentbarton my15 and skylink Nottingham.
Other continuing bus disruption
Green 11 and 11C remain diverted towards Lady Bay because of the closure of Bathley Street, while daytime closures of Sneinton Hermitage continue to affect Red 44 and 44A until Friday.
Blue 40A also continues to terminate at the Radiotherapy stop at Nottingham City Hospital because Linden Way remains closed.
At Radcliffe-on-Trent, the Vicarage Lane stop remains closed because of Severn Trent works, affecting mainline and Rushcliffe Villager passengers.
Maid Marian Way – Broad Marsh
Traffic management remains around Maid Marian Way during demolition of the former Broad Marsh NCP car park and Nottingham College building.
NCT says no service diversions are currently anticipated, but lane restrictions and temporary traffic lights are causing delays.
The works are expected to continue until the end of November.
