There are several significant roadworks beginning or continuing today, including restrictions near Trent Bridge, while East Midlands Railway passengers face a number of timetable alterations.
Roads and motorways
The latest National Highways-derived M1 information, updated shortly after 05:00, was showing no reported accidents on the motorway. Overnight works included a lane closure northbound between junctions 32 and 33, scheduled to finish at 06:00.
No significant new incident has been identified in the early checks affecting the A1, A46 or A52 through Nottinghamshire.
Nottingham – Trent Bridge lane closures today
Drivers heading into Nottingham from West Bridgford should be aware of lane closures near Quayside on the approach to Trent Bridge outside Turney’s Court today for highways works.
The restriction is among the latest works listed by Nottingham City Council.
Rail – several EMR alterations
East Midlands Railway continues to operate its temporary reduced Intercity timetable. National Rail’s disruption notice was most recently updated at 14:57 on Tuesday 25 August and remains active for services between Nottingham, Sheffield, Derby and Lincoln and London St Pancras, Sheffield–Derby, and Nottingham/Melton Mowbray–Kettering.
There are additional engineering alterations today. The 05:21 Nottingham to Liverpool Lime Street is amended from Tuesday to Friday this week, while the 06:49 Liverpool Lime Street to Norwich is also altered.
The 23:08 Nottingham to Sheffield is amended through Thursday 27 August. There are also late-night alterations to an EMR service between Peterborough and Lincoln.
Looking ahead, substantial disruption is expected on Sunday 30 and Bank Holiday Monday 31 August because of RMT industrial action. EMR is advising people to travel only if essential. Nottingham–London Intercity trains will be reduced to one per hour, with services starting later and finishing earlier.

Buses and Nottingham roadworks
Several continuing works could affect bus journeys.
Westdale Lane West in Mapperley is being resurfaced overnight between Pierrepont Avenue and Ramsdale Road until the end of August.
In the Gedling area, Lime Lane at Redhill and Mapperley Plains at Arnold are scheduled to close from today until Friday 28 August.
Other longer-running works remain in place around Nottingham, including a lane closure on Belconnen Road until Friday 28 August.
Major East Bridgford works
The major A614/A6097 Kirk Hill junction scheme at East Bridgford is now in its first week of main construction.
Kirk Hill and East Bridgford Road are closed for around 12 months, with the work involving earthworks, utility diversions and removal of existing traffic islands, lighting columns and traffic signals.
