Friday will be a fairly mild and settled winter’s day, with dry conditions, variable cloud and some brighter spells developing, especially through the middle of the day.

Early morning
The day will start mostly cloudy and dry, with temperatures around 5°C at dawn. It will feel a little cooler, closer to 3°C, due to a light south-south-westerly breeze of around 6 mph. There is only a small chance of a brief shower early on, but most areas should remain dry through the morning commute.

Midday
By late morning into midday, cloud will break at times to allow brighter spells and occasional sunshine. Temperatures will rise steadily to around 6°C to 7°C by midday. Winds will remain light to moderate from the south at around 6 to 7 mph. Conditions will feel relatively mild for January, with good visibility and largely dry weather.

Afternoon
The afternoon will continue dry with a mix of sunny intervals and patchy cloud. Temperatures are expected to peak at around 8°C, making it one of the milder days of the week. Winds will remain gentle from the south at around 7 to 8 mph. Overall, it will be a pleasant and calm winter afternoon.

Evening
Into the evening, cloud will gradually increase again, though conditions should stay mostly dry. Temperatures will slowly fall from around 7°C to 6°C by late evening. Winds will turn south-east to south-south-east at around 7 mph. There is a small chance of a light shower later in the night, but widespread rain is not expected, and conditions will remain mild with no risk of frost.
