Nottinghamshire weather for Monday 16 March

A cool but mostly bright start is expected on Monday 16 March, with some sunshine during the morning before cloud thickens and rain becomes increasingly likely later in the afternoon and early evening.

EARLY MORNING
The day will begin chilly with temperatures around 3°C at 6am, with some areas briefly close to freezing around dawn. Skies will be partly cloudy with some early sunshine developing after sunrise. Winds will be light to moderate from the south-west at around 8 mph with gusts near 19 mph. The chance of rain remains very low at below five per cent during the early morning.

MIDDAY
Through the late morning and midday period, sunshine will mix with increasing cloud. Temperatures will steadily rise from around 6°C to approximately 9°C by midday. South-westerly winds will strengthen slightly to around 11 to 12 mph with gusts approaching 26 mph. Rainfall risk will gradually increase to around 20 to 50 per cent as the day progresses.

AFTERNOON
Cloud will thicken through the afternoon and showers will become more likely. Temperatures will reach around 10°C but it will feel cooler in the breeze. Winds from the south-west will remain steady at around 12 to 13 mph with gusts near 26 mph. The chance of rain increases significantly during the afternoon, rising from around 50 per cent to as high as 80 per cent by mid to late afternoon.

EVENING
Rain will move through during the early evening before gradually easing later at night. Temperatures will remain around 9°C during the evening hours before slowly cooling overnight. Winds will continue from the south-west at around 11 to 12 mph with gusts between 23 and 26 mph. Rainfall chances will gradually fall from around 80 per cent early in the evening to below five per cent later in the night as conditions begin to settle.
