Nottinghamshire weather for Thursday 15 January

Thursday will be a mild but unsettled day, with increasing cloud, spells of rain developing through the afternoon and further outbreaks into the evening.

Early morning
The day will begin mild and largely dry, with broken cloud and temperatures around 6°C at dawn. Winds will be light to moderate from the south-west to south-south-west at around 7 to 8 mph. Although it will feel damp and rather grey, there is only a small chance of a light shower early on, and many places will stay dry through the first part of the morning.

Midday
By late morning into midday, cloud will continue to thicken and temperatures will rise to around 6°C to 7°C. Winds will ease slightly, remaining southerly at around 5 to 6 mph. The risk of rain will begin to increase towards lunchtime, with isolated showers possible, though there should still be some dry intervals at this stage.

Afternoon
The afternoon will turn more unsettled. Rain is expected to develop more widely from early to mid-afternoon, with the chance of precipitation rising to around 50 to 70 per cent. Temperatures will hold steady at around 7°C, while winds will gradually veer from southerly to easterly and north-easterly later in the afternoon at around 4 to 6 mph. Rainfall is likely to be light to moderate but fairly persistent for a time, leading to damp conditions.

Evening
Into the evening, rain will continue for a while before slowly easing later on. Temperatures will fall only slightly, settling around 6°C by late evening. Winds will turn north to north-west and then westerly at around 6 to 7 mph. As precipitation becomes lighter and more patchy, cloud will remain extensive, with drier conditions developing overnight, though surfaces may remain wet and slippery in places.
