Nottinghamshire weather for Wednesday 18 February

A very cold and increasingly wintry day with cloud thickening and sleet or snow developing later, followed by a freezing night.

EARLY MORNING
It starts dry but cloudy with temperatures between -3 and 1°C. A brisk easterly wind at around 10 to 12 mph, gusting above 20 mph, will make it feel particularly cold.

MIDDAY
Cloud remains widespread with only a small chance of precipitation at first, but the risk gradually increases through late morning. Temperatures rise to around 4°C. Winds strengthen from the east to east-south-east at 14 mph with gusts reaching the low 30s mph.

AFTERNOON
Light rain develops and turns increasingly wintry with sleet possible later in the afternoon. Temperatures hold near 3 to 4°C but feel colder in the strong easterly wind at around 15 mph with gusts close to 30 mph.

EVENING
Sleet or snow showers become more likely through the evening with precipitation chances around 60 to 90 percent. Temperatures fall to 2°C and then below freezing, dropping to about -2 or -3°C overnight, creating a risk of icy surfaces. Winds remain easterly at around 12 to 14 mph with gusts approaching 28 mph.
