KH Barber is celebrating after salon owner, Ben Sutcliffe, secured his place at the UK finals of a major hairdressing industry competition.
Wella’s TrendVision is a competition designed to find the very best hairdressing talent in the UK. Ben Sutcliffe, who runs KH Barber in Long Eaton (part of the KH Hair Group) was chosen after competing at the regional finals earlier this month.
Having been successful in an initial photographic stage, Ben, competing in the Male Grooming category, spent the day with his fellow competitors perfecting their models who then took to the catwalk in front of hundreds of guests at a glitzy show at the East Midlands Conference Centre hosted by the leading global hair care giant, Wella Professionals.
Still reeling from hearing his name called out, Ben says the result still hasn’t sunk in. “It feels absolutely amazing,” he said. To hear your name called out as a winner is just fantastic. I’ve been hairdressing for 32 years and I still get a buzz from competing. I’m very proud of myself and my fellow Leicestershire colleagues, Joanne Roe and Lizzie Williams who also made it through. As a whole team, the KH Hair Group just keeps getting better and better.”
A wide range of highly acclaimed hairdressing experts judged the regional heats, and Wella’s guest artist, iconic hairdresser Nicky Clarke, said the standards have been incredibly impressive. “The TrendVision Award regional heats have been exceptional, with some of the greatest talents in British hairdressing showcasing their work. Ben should be recognised for this incredible achievement as getting to this stage has not been easy. The next step is the final, which I wish him every success for. Whatever the outcome, it will be a night to remember,” said Nicky.
Ben is now among the 40 UK finalists who will go on to compete at the TrendVision Award UK & Ireland Final, on 30th September 2019 at The Roundhouse, Camden, London. The star-studded event with a cocktail reception and dinner will feature incredible hair shows from some of the world’s most talented hair artists. If he wins his category, he will then embark on a money-can’t-buy mentoring retreat at the international event in Seville, Spain with face-to-face mentoring from global hairdressing icons.
