Notts golfers can aim for national glory and help charity

Golfers across Nottinghamshire are being given the opportunity to come together on Monday 13th May to enjoy a social day of golf with a competitive edge.

Entrants will battle it out at Oakmere Golf Club in Southwell to see who will represent the county at the Licensed Trade Charity’s national grand final in September, whilst helping the charity raise money to help local people in need.

Teams of four are being urged to enter the event that will see them play 18 holes of Stableford competition handicap golf, and finish the day with a hot meal in the clubhouse.

The day, sponsored by Everards Brewery, will start with bacon rolls and coffee in what promises to be a fun event that will help raise money for local people in the hospitality industry.

In 2018, the Licensed Trade Charity provided Nottinghamshire pub, bar and brewery staff in need with over £12,000 in grants to pay for rent, funeral costs and disability aids amongst other things.

The winning team will qualify for the national grand final to be held at Horsley Lodge Golf Club in Derbyshire in September, sponsored by United Dental.

Last year the Nottinghamshire representatives won the national final with the regional heats and final helping the Licensed Trade Charity raise £10,000, which it used to help pub, bar and brewery staff who need financial support for problems including housing, health and money issues.

Financial support is just one of the valuable services that the Licensed Trade Charity is able to provide to those who have worked in the trade, along with a dedicated free helpline providing advice on health, debt and relationships, counselling, telephone befriending to combat loneliness and retraining grants.
