Notts Gymnastics Academy Junior Women’s team crowned National champions

On Sunday 20th November, Laura Kaletha, Thea Dane, Scarlett Williams, Caitlin Williams, Isla Lees and Ramiyah Kofi competed as part of the Notts Junior team at the Bill Slater team championships, against the top teams in Great Britain.

The team started strongly on floor, with exciting tumbles and elegant dance they produced 4 scores over 12, to be the second highest scoring team on this piece of apparatus.

As they moved to vault, another strong display of skills with 4 straight yuchenkos and a pike tsuk, Scarlett and Ramiyah both scoring over 13 putting the team top for this apparatus.

On bars, all girls produced fabulous clean routines. Scarlett opening the team with a beautiful double straight and Caitlin following with a 1/1 out dismount.

Laura’s fabulous bars scored 12.65 to place 2nd on this apparatus, closely followed by Ramiyah with 12.55. Isla’s hard work to increase her difficulty on bars showed as she produced her new routine to score 12.15.

The team were the highest scorers on bars by over 3 marks. Beam was the teams final apparatus, the girls worked together with Isla’s opening routine stuck and scoring 12.65, a few nerves showed in the following routines but that didn’t stop their spirit and determination to the end.

Although not an individual competition and with all girls not competing all apparatus Ramiyah Kofi finished 3rd overall AA and Scarlett Williams 5th.

Huge well done to these young gymnasts, a fantastic experience for them all!
