Notts man sentenced after hundreds of indecent images found on devices

A man who uploaded indecent videos of children onto Facebook and shared images on WhatsApp had his devices seized as part of a warrant.

His house was raided and had his computer, phones, tablet, a book of passwords and hard drives seized in 11 June 2019 where the man was arrested.

The devices were forensically downloaded and reviewed and more than 100 Category A videos were found – depicting the most serious sexual abuse that can be committed by adults against children. The search also found one video for the extreme category.

The seized photographs and videos had been shared around the world and included indecent images of boys aged between 8 and 14-years-old.

Enquiries were made with the Internet Service Provider responsible for the IP address, who in turn supplied information for the customer account. The address was identified as belonging to the occupant of an address in Warsop.

Stephen Pegg, 52, of Warsop pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of a child, three counts of distributing images of a child and one count of possession of extreme pornography.

He was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday (5 May 2021) and received a 12 month imprisonment sentence, suspended for two years.

He was given a sexual harm prevention order for five years and he must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.

Detective Constable Peter Chappell led the investigation. He said: “Cases like this should serve as a warning to anyone who views, downloads or shares images of child sexual abuse.

“The physical and emotional impact of that abuse can and does have a devastating impact on those children as grow older and we are determined to protect other children from a similar fate.”
