Notts motorhome thief caught three minutes after stealing the vehicle

A police officer stopped a suspected thief in his tracks within just three minutes of receiving a report of a motorhome being stolen from an address in Bilsthorpe.

The officer was travelling along the A617 from Mansfield towards Newark, in response to a separate report of a vehicle failing to stop, when he noticed a motorhome approaching a junction ahead of him at speed.

He was then alerted by a colleague via radio that a motorhome had just been reported stolen, at 2.29 am today (Monday 4 May 2020), from an address in Bilsthorpe.

He followed the vehicle which eventually slowed and came to a stop and, at 2.32 am, he arrested the driver on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle. The suspect remains in police custody.
