Notts police officer to attend gross misconduct hearing


A police officer is set to attend a gross misconduct hearing at police headquarters.

Between March 2018 and May 2018, his conduct breached the standards of professional behaviour in respect of his dealings with a woman with whom he had professional contact in the course of his role, such that he would be aware that he had a professional duty of care towards her and that this would make her vulnerable to an abuse of authority by him.

The conduct alleged amounts to gross misconduct.

The standards of professional behaviour are:

  • Honesty and integrity
  • Authority, respect and courtesy
  • Discreditable conduct
  • Orders and instructions

The misconduct hearing will be held at Nottinghamshire Police Headquarters at 10am on Friday 21 December 2018.

The chairperson has determined the hearing will be held in public.

Public wishing to attend:

You must register before midday on Wednesday 19 December.
Spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Press wishing to attend:

Members of the press must register at media@nottinghamshire.pnn.police.uk before midday on Wednesday 19 December.
Spaces are allocated on a first come, first served basis and you will be informed if you have been reserved a place.
In the event of large numbers of journalists in attendance you may be asked to pool copy.

Conditions of entry:

All attendees will need to provide photographic identification on the day.
You will also have to sign a document setting out the conditions of entry.
Strictly no recording or filming of the proceedings is allowed.
