Students at Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology (NUAST), a proud member of Nova Education Trust, are celebrating a milestone year after securing the academy’s best-ever GCSE results.
Demonstrating exceptional resilience and aspiration, the graduating cohort delivered outstanding performances across the curriculum, significantly surpassing both national and regional averages:
– 85% of students achieved at least a Grade 4 or above in both English and Maths.
– 64% secured a strong pass of at least a Grade 5 or above in both core subjects.
– Over 20% for both English and Maths reached the highest grades of 7, 8, or 9.
– These exceptional outcomes ensure that NUAST students are well positioned to progress to their top choice destinations, including our oversubscribed NUAST16 Post 16 provision.
Headteacher, Dave Thompson, said: “I am extremely proud of our incredible students. They have gone beyond what they thought possible.
“These results are a testament to the support from parents and carers, and to the strong relationships between our students and their exceptional teachers.
“I wish all of our students the very best for their futures.”

Jaafar Al-Amiedy achieved a remarkable 100% higher grades with six grade 9s, two grade 8s and two grade 7s. Jaafar said “This is a huge weight of my mind – I’m so relieved. I’m going to enrol at NUAST16 for September.”
Matthew Rowe achieved a very impressive seven grade 9s and three grade 8s. Matthew said he was “feeling really good about his achievements and looking forward to his studies next year”.
Hanisk Hamakhan was “ecstatic” to receive her one grade 9, three grade 8s and three grade 7s. Hanisk is also staying at NUAST to study Biology, Chemistry and Psychology.
Charlotte Wesley was relieved to receive 100% Grade 5s and above. She said: “I’m so pleased with my results.”
Danyal Mughal was over the moon with his five grade 9s, three grade 8s and two grade 7s and said: “I’m pleased with my results and relieved to be enrolling in NUAST16 for September.”
Christopher Oldfield said he “feels great” and it was “better than expected” when he received his four grade 9s, five grade 8s, and one grade 7. Christopher is enrolling with NUAST16 to study Physics, Maths, Further Maths, and Product Design.
