Last year, West Bridgford Wire reported on the happy occasion of the Platinum Wedding Anniversary of West Bridgford couple Edward and Esther Vick. They went on to celebrate one more wedding anniversary together in January.
Sadly, Edward William Harry Vick has now passed away, aged 95.
He died peacefully on 23 July 2024 in Bournemouth. The funeral was held there last Thursday, 8 August.
A West Bridgford resident for 53 years, Dr. Vick was a teacher at Forest Fields School, later Forest Fields Sixth Form College, from 1971 until his retirement.
He also taught a number of evening classes at the Workers Educational Association over many years.
After retiring, he completed a B.A. in Philosophy at the University of Nottingham and went on to teach Philosophy courses in the University’s continuing education programme.
An avid gardener, he was a member of West Bridgford and Rushcliffe Horticultural Society for more than 50 years.
He loved cricket, and often enjoyed a day out at Trent Bridge.
Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is sadly missed by all his family.
