Officers investigate reports of a firearms discharge in Sneinton

Officers are currently in the Sneinton area following reports of a possible firearm discharge today.

Police were called to Spalding Road at around 2.45pm today (8 May) to reports of loud bangs being heard.

Officers are now working hard to establish the circumstances of the incident.

There have been no reports of any injuries or damage to property.

A cordon has been set up while searches of the area are carried out.

Officers are investigating the possibility of the discharge of a firearm and patrols have been increased in the area to provide reassurance to local residents.

Inspector John Lees from Nottinghamshire Police said: “I understand that it is concerning for people to hear incidents such as this one.

“Our investigation into this is well underway and our specialist investigators are doing all they can to establish what has happened and find the person or people responsible.

“I would appeal for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage in the area, to get in touch as soon as possible.”
