Emily Campbell from Bulwell has won silver at the Olympics in Tokyo today.
A spokesperson for Nottingham City Council said:
‘What an amazing achievement for the 27-year-old, who has been helped on her way by local people including stall holders at Bulwell Market.
‘I’m sure they, like everyone in Nottingham, will be really proud of Emily, after she lifted an incredible 161kg to earn her medal – making her the first British female to win an Olympic weightlifting medal. Congratulations to a home-grown record breaker!’
