Organiser of Nottingham bonfire night party for over 30 people fined £10,000

Fines were issued across the city and county last night as Nottinghamshire Police continued to tackle the minority of people who choose to ignore Covid-19 restrictions.

It comes as a man who organised a Bonfire Night (5 November) party for more than 30 people in Top Valley has been fined £10,000.

Police officers narrowly escaped injury in the incident when a group threw fireworks at them as they went to break up the illegal gathering.

Officers had been working hard to locate the organiser of the event and he was subsequently issued the ticket this morning (7 November).

Last night, five people in Mansfield Woodhouse, aged between 28 and 48, were each fined £200 at a house party.

When officers engaged with the men and women in the group in Lawrence Avenue, they were reportedly rude to officers and attempted to provide false details.
